Photography begins long before the shutter is pressed.
Rather than simply documenting rooms, I aim to create photographs that reveal the qualities of a space: its proportions, light, atmosphere and relationship to the people who use it.
My background in architecture influences the way I observe buildings, considering their setting, materiality, proportion and the relationship between light and space.
Every photograph is the result of a series of deliberate decisions about light, composition, perspective and timing, each intended to communicate the qualities that make a space distinctive.
Styling and viewpoint are considered with equal care. Small adjustments to furniture, light and composition can fundamentally change the balance of an image, guiding attention and strengthening its visual narrative.
Good architectural photography relies on far more than technical accuracy. Every space presents its own opportunities and challenges, and understanding how light, proportion, viewpoint and composition interact allows those qualities to be communicated with clarity and authenticity.
I see photography as a collaborative process, working with those who have designed, built or cared for a place to communicate the qualities that make it unique. The result is imagery that communicates the character of a place, revealing the craftsmanship, design and intent that have shaped it.
The aim is always the same: to create photographs that are architecturally honest, visually engaging and memorable long after they are first seen.

About Chris
I’ve had a lifelong interest in both architecture and photography. As a child I was constantly sketching buildings and imagining how spaces could be experienced, which later led me to study architecture at university and work within residential design. Today, those two disciplines naturally come together through photography.
Outside of commissioned work, I continue to pursue photography personally, particularly the Malvern Hills landscape and woodland; often accompanied by my Shih Tzu cross, who is considerably less patient when waiting for the right light.
